Trail Description
Portions of this hike has seen significant fire damage from the 2020 East Troublesome Fire.
Beginning at the Fern Lake trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park, follow the trail to The Pool. Then follow the trail sign direction to Cub Lake. The hike gains in elevation until it opens out of the trees with views looking down onto Cub Lake. Follow the Cub Lake trail down to the western edge of Moraine Park, then over to the Cub Lk trailhead and find your car.
How to Get There
Take the Bear Lake Road from US 36 for 1 mile to the Moraine Park Campground road and follow signs to the Cub Lake trailhead. Parking during the summer season is very limited. It's best to utilize the
Hiker Shuttle from the Estes Park Visitor Center and the Park Shuttle Buses.
