Trail Description
The sound of the North St. Vrain River is ever present along this hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. Staying mostly in the trees, the enjoyable trail steadily climbs with several sunny places along the river to rest. The Calypso Cascades are named for the rare Fairy Slipper Orchid that is occasionally seen in small groups in this area. As with all wildflowers in the Park, be sure to enjoy them, but do not pick them. How to Get There Drive south of Estes Park on Hwy 7 13.5 miles, toward the town of Allenspark. Turn right at the Wild Basin Ranger Station sign and follow the dirt road for 2 miles to the trailhead at the end. |
