Trail Description
This hike in Rocky Mountain National Park begins east of Lily Lake and switchbacks up through montane forests with views of Longs Peak through the trees to the west. At about 1.25 miles, the trail crosses a dramatic landslide which occurred from heavy rains in September, 2013. Then a series of short, steep switchbacks brings the trail into a subalpine Limber Pine forest before then rising to above treeline. Enjoy a 360 degree views on the summit, from the dramatic 14,000ft Longs Peak in the west to the high plains looking back east. How to Get There
From Estes Park, travel south on Hwy 7 for about 6.7 miles. Turn right toward the National Park Visitor Center across from Lily Lake. Take the road past the visitor center to the road side parking area. |
