Trail Description
The Lawn Lake trail in Rocky Mountain National Park quickly rises from the valley of Horseshoe Park and then cuts over to shear drop offs along the Roaring River made by the Lawn Lake Flood in 1982. The hike drifts through lodgepole pines as it slowly gains in elevation, sometimes drifting near the river. The peaceful lake, formerly damned, lies right at tree line with pretty views of the surrounding peaks. How to Get There
From downtown Estes Park, travel west on US 34, entering into The National Park, for about 6.8 miles. Turn right onto Old Fall River Road for about one tenth of a mile to the Lawn Lake Trailhead. |
