Lake Haiyaha, Rocky Mountain National Park
Lake Haiyaha
Trail Description
The hike to Lake Haiyaha in Rocky Mountain National Park follows the Emerald Lake trail from the Bear Lake parking lot. The trail branches off just before reaching Dream Lake and rises to a switchback and around a ridge with more terrific views of the Glacier Gorge and Longs Peak. After crossing a couple of alpine streams of narrow foot bridges, the trail cuts sharply west, weaving through boulders to the Lake and Chaos Canyon. Haiyaha means rock, and there's an abundance of large ones.
How to Get There
Take the Bear Lake Road from US 36 to
the Bear Lake trailhead, 9.7 miles. Parking during the summer season is very limited. It's best to utilize the Hiker Shuttle from the Estes Park Visitor Center and the Park Shuttle Buses.
